CONTEXT

This project explores the visual identity of Radiohead across static, motion, and interactive formats. Known for themes of alienation, existentialism, and emotional intensity, the band combines experimental sound with a distinctive, often abstract visual language.

The challenge was to translate their layered and atmospheric aesthetic into a cohesive design system that captures both their fragility and complexity across different media.

MOTION

The development of the video began once I had established the core visual language of the project. I wanted the motion piece to reflect Radiohead’s layered and atmospheric sound, so I chose a mixed media approach that combined photography, graphic elements, texture, and typography. This allowed me to create something visually fragmented yet cohesive - mirroring the band’s emotional complexity.

STATIC

The static outcome developed directly from the motion piece. After completing the video, I extracted key frames that best represented its atmosphere and emotional tone. This ensured visual continuity between formats and allowed the poster to function as a condensed, still version of the moving image.

INTERACTIVE

The interactive outcome was developed as a Figma app prototype, extending the project into a digital space. Part of the development process involved learning the interface and understanding how to design for interaction rather than just visual presentation.

I began by identifying the app’s purpose - to create an immersive space that reflects Radiohead’s atmosphere while allowing users to explore content such as visuals, tour information, and media. I structured the layout to maintain consistency with the poster and video, using the same colour palette, typography, and visual motifs to ensure cohesion across all outcomes.

WIP

The process involved photographing each frame individually, drawing over them and cropping them manually.
